  • Key Objectives *: With focus and contributions to achieving the Sustainable Development Goals (SDGs) nationally, FIWG works support SDGs 2, 3, 4, 5 and 6. Our aims are to: 1. Establish empowerment, soft and life skills and advocacy programs that seeks to provide: Voice to women and girls in decision-making through their participation, leadership and collective action; Choice to women and girls to complete education and to benefit from paid work and opportunities to make sufficient income; over whether, when and with whom to have sex, marry and/or have children; to end child, early and forced marriage (CEFM); Ownership of women and girls over their bodies and mobility, including their safety from violence; to control income, productive assets and other resources (including food, water, and energy); with equal rights, access to justice, and freedom from discriminatory social norms; Leadership, Mentorship and Coaching to women, girls and young people; 2. Engage in agricultural programs, operate farms and agribusinesses including crops preservations, food value chain and food hubs which shall serve as social enterprise for the sustainability of the institution and economic empowerment for young rural women. 3. Establish and operate an educational institution or learning center which shall provide leadership, life skills and vocational training courses to adolescents, young women and youth throughout Liberia.

  • Major or Current Achievements *: Since 2016, FIWG has trained over 400 adolescent girls and young women in and out of schools in Montserrado (Duport road and Brewerville Communities), Grand Bassa (Campwood District) and Bong (Zota district) counties. By supporting adolescent girls learning in a variety of life areas, we are building the next generation of confident women who will become leaders in their communities. FIWG addresses areas of education for girls that are missing from their regular schooling and everyday lives. Our program covers important life skills so girls gain the knowledge of their rights and confidence to demand their right to stay in school reduce gender-based violence, general health knowledge and avoid early pregnancy and marriage.
