  • Major or Current Achievements *: Key achievements of the agency include the following 1. Formation of the Sierra Leone Palliative care Association (SLPCA) 2. Introduction of opioid medicines to control pain among patients with life-threatening illnesses in Sierra Leone 3. Supporting national effort of scalling up of Directly Observed Treatment Short course (DOTS) using trained volunteers to monitor teatment at home 4. Establishment of three rural community health centres to treat common illnesses and integrate pain management 5. Implementation of community monitoring project to identiying ebola suspects and refer to care centres in Western Area Rural and Port Loko, in support of national ebola response 6. Now working to construct an in-patient palliative care to serve patients for short periods while family members break from care .
